Women Empowerment Workshop (April 6th, 2019)

16 Women from 9 different nationalities attended the workshop, 8 of these were new to the group and the theme was Health and Beauty. 

We had two guest speakers, one was Danni a Beauty Therapist from Bognor Regis, West Sussex and Shamila Dhana from the Red Cross and numerous awards winner for the great work she does with women from all backgrounds living in Portsmouth. Shamila spoke about 

beauty from within and women’s self esteem. She also spoke about the ‘Perception’ of Beauty across various cultures and what our perception of ourselves was.

The event took 2 hours, from the feedback we received everyone found the gathering very important for the city of Portsmouth. The following comment was made by Selina who was present at the event “I had been experiencing symptoms of post natal depression and was not getting out at all, this gathering has given me the opportunity to know Marisa from Cape Verde, who is also a mother to a young boy. We have exchanged numbers and have arranged to meet up to go for walks with our new born babies. 

Everyone from the event got a goody bag consisting of perfume samples and other beauty products.
